Labelling appliances
- Remember that less is more. Using too many labels can clutter the appliance and make the labels difficult to distinguish.
- Clean the control panel well before labelling. Labels won’t stick well to a greasy surface.
- Mark only the controls you are going to use. Modern microwaves come with a wide array of features. Many require interaction with a display that may not be accessible unless you have a talking microwave.
- Use transparent labels if you share your appliances with others who are sighted.
- Add more labels as you learn additional features.
