Adjusting to Vision Loss

Mental and emotional well-being are integrally related to physical health. When we experience depression or emotional upheaval, it can be difficult to carry on with daily routines. There may not be enough energy to prepare and eat nutritious meals. Social interactions, intimate relationships and work may suffer. In turn, this can lead to physical ailments.

Experiencing a recent loss of vision impacts on how you feel about yourself, and the role you play in your family and community. Understanding issues of mental health and emotional well-being is the first step in finding assistance.

The pages in this section can help you put your experiences in context, learn from others, and find strategies for reducing stress and staying well emotionally.
