Neighbours, Friends and Families...
a public education campaign designed to raise awareness of the signs of woman abuse.
If you are close to an at-risk woman or an abusive man this may bhelp. It has been recognized that different communities require different approaches. A strategy and resource materials have been established for Ontario’s general population, as well as the francophone community and the Aboriginal/First Nations communities.
Now we are gathering information to be collected through key informant interviews, focus groups and advisory committee feedback in order to prepare a strategy that reflects the needs of the communities of Ontarians who have disabilities as well as Ontarians who are Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.
Over the next few months Marianne Park, NFF Disability Strategy Coordinator will be conducting key informant interviews. She will be speaking with people regarding the components of an effective disability strategy. In the future there will be an opportunity for people to participate and give feedback through focus groups. The focus groups will be held in locations across the province during 2010. A small honorarium is available to recognize the contribution given to this important initiative.
If you are interested in finding out more about the Disability Strategy please contact Marianne Park at email dequindre13@gmail.com
