Job Search and Workplace Accommodation
Getting started
Before applying for jobs, think about the workplace accommodations you will need. Being able to describe your accommodations and how you use them makes a positive impression on employers. The more confident you appear, the more seriously you will be taken and the greater your chances of getting the job.
Read the job ad carefully to identify the types of accommodation you will need. If the job involves using a computer, consider the computer accommodations you require, including screen readers or magnifiers, and communicate this clearly to the employer.
The Employment Services staff at BALANCE is ready to help you and your prospective employer go through this process effectively.
