Ontario Ministry of Health: Assistive Devices Program
The purpose of the Assistive Devices Program (A.D.P.) is to help people with disabilities maximize their independence at home. For blind and vision-impaired persons, this generally means having computer hardware and software. Scanners and voice synthesizers can help people who are blind read their mail. Screen magnifiers can help those with impaired vision look at family photo albums or read a favourite recipe.
Through the A.D.P., the government of Ontario absorbs 75% of the cost for special needs equipment for persons with a disability. Individuals receiving financial support from the Ontario Disability Support Program (O.D.S.P.) can obtain the additional 25% from O.D.S.P..
