EMPLOYMENT ACCOMMODATIONS

BALANCE for Blind Adults has found a new way to support blind and vision impaired job seekers and workers in the GTA. On April 1, 2009, BALANCE developed a connection with the Canadian Paraplegic Association (CPA), whereby BALANCE will support any accommodation needs relating to employment counselling and job development at CPA. BALANCE’S accommodation support will also extend to other employment service providers within (JOIN) Job Opportunity Information Network.

The first goal of this initiative is to build CPA’s capacity to assist blind and vision impaired individuals seeking competitive employment. The second goal of this project is to support the accommodation needs of other JOIN service providers who are working with blind and vision impaired job seekers.

CPA is now an excellent employment service provider for blind and vision impaired job seekers in the GTA. For freedom of choice, individuals do have the option of choosing an alternative service provider.
