This 6-week program aims to reduce uncertainties and stress around communication in different contexts and give participants the opportunity to build their skills and practice in a safe setting. The tools and strategies that will be developed in this workshop include, but are not limited to, assertive communication, self-advocacy strategies, active listening, public speaking and creating a safe space. The goal is that at the end of this program, participants will be able to apply these skills in their everyday life and more actively engage in occupations that are important to them.

BALANCE for Blind Adults will be once again facilitating ABC’s Life Literacy workshop - UP Skills for Work! Soft skills help you work well with others - at home, at work and in your community. In this weekly workshop, we will explore 9 soft skills. We will talk about:

Do you wonder where creative people find their ideas? Do you often wish you could think more creatively, or express yourself in new ways? Is there a writer in you trying to come out? Through a series of writing prompts and exercises, this workshop will give participants the opportunity to enjoy the act of creative writing and exchange of ideas, together.
