The purpose of these sessions is to provide a setting in which uncertainty regarding the use of or changes to specific apps can be discussed in greater detail. This 6-week program aims to reduce uncertainties and stress around communication in different contexts and give participants the opportunity to build their skills and practice in a safe setting. The tools and strategies that will be developed in this workshop include, but are not limited to, assertive communication, self-advocacy strategies, active listening, public speaking and creating a safe space. The goal is that at the end of this program, participants will be able to apply these skills in their everyday life and more actively engage in occupations that are important to them.

BALANCE for Blind Adults will be once again facilitating ABC’s Life Literacy workshop - UP Skills for Work! Soft skills help you work well with others - at home, at work and in your community. In this weekly workshop, we will explore 9 soft skills. We will talk about:

  • Why soft skills are important
  • How soft skills relate to essential skills
  • What it takes to improve your soft skills
  • Some problem solving strategies for use in the home or the work place.

You’ll get the opportunity share your experiences and review your own soft skills. This program focuses on skills such as motivation, attitude, accountability, presentation, team work, and more! Spaces are limited. Please contact c.lopes@balancebfa.org for registration.

Through a series of writing prompts and exercises, this workshop will give participants the opportunity to enjoy the act of creative writing and exchange of ideas, together.
