The BALANCE Sharing Space Support Group is year-round professionally facilitated group counselling for adults who are blind or living with sight loss. From navigating the challenges of the pandemic to navigating ableism at any time, this group address' life challenges specifically for blind people, whether big or small, in a safe and supportive group experience (currently offered virtually through Zoom). Our Sharing Space Support Group is facilitated by a registered Social Worker with lived experience.

This is open only to BALANCE clients. You need a service agreement in place in order to participate. If you don't have one, please call our office at 416-236-1796 extension 0 or email info@balancefba.org to get more information.

This 6-week program aims to reduce uncertainties and stress around communication in different contexts and give participants the opportunity to build their skills and practice in a safe setting. The tools and strategies that will be developed in this workshop include, but are not limited to, assertive communication, self-advocacy strategies, active listening, public speaking and creating a safe space. The goal is that at the end of this program, participants will be able to apply these skills in their everyday life and more actively engage in occupations that are important to them.

BALANCE for Blind Adults will be once again facilitating ABC’s Life Literacy workshop - UP Skills for Work! Soft skills help you work well with others - at home, at work and in your community. In this weekly workshop, we will explore 9 soft skills. We will talk about:

  • Why soft skills are important
  • How soft skills relate to essential skills
  • What it takes to improve your soft skills
  • Some problem solving strategies for use in the home or the work place.

You’ll get the opportunity share your experiences and review your own soft skills. This program focuses on skills such as motivation, attitude, accountability, presentation, team work, and more! Spaces are limited. Please contact c.lopes@balancebfa.org for registration.
