Events & Fundraising

At BALANCE for Blind Adults, our events bring people together to celebrate community, share stories, and support programs that serve adults who are blind or partially sighted.

Some events are led by BALANCE, while others are organized by community partners and supporters who share our commitment to accessibility and inclusion.

Throughout the year, several initiatives bring our community together to build connections and support our work. A few of these annual highlights are featured below.

Because of BALANCE

Because of BALANCE is our signature peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, made possible by the strength and generosity of the BALANCE community.

Each Fall, clients, volunteers, staff, and supporters share their personal “Because of BALANCE” stories, reflecting on what BALANCE means in their lives and celebrating the relationships, support, and sense of belonging that have grown within our community.

Through these stories, the campaign highlights how inclusion and accessibility help ensure adults who are blind or partially sighted can live life on their terms with independence, confidence, and dignity.

EyeRide

BALANCE is proud to participate in EyeRide as one of the charities supported through this annual cycling event.

EyeRide is an annual one-day cycling event founded by para-athletes and sighted allies to raise funds for organizations supporting people living with vision loss. More than a fundraising event, EyeRide breaks down barriers, fosters inclusion, and builds meaningful connections between people with vision loss and the sighted community.

Each year, members of the BALANCE community take part as Team BALANCE, helping raise awareness and funds in support of our programs.

Astellas Low Vision Speaker Series

The Astellas Low Vision Speaker Series is a free three-part webinar series held each May during Vision Health Month.

The series brings together optometrists, low vision specialists, and other vision care practitioners to explore current trends in low vision research and share best practices in patient care.

By connecting professionals across the vision care field, the series helps strengthen knowledge and collaboration in support of people living with vision loss.

Host Your Own Fundraiser or Event

Members of the BALANCE community sometimes organize their own events or fundraising initiatives in support of our work.

These grassroots efforts help raise awareness about vision loss while supporting programs and services for adults who are blind or partially sighted.
