The BALANCE Pre-Employment Program (PEP) helps job seekers who are blind and partially sighted explore new ways to think about career planning and their job search.

Using technology is an important part of everyday life, from banking and shopping to staying connected with others and managing work. However, navigating technology safely can present unique challenges for people living with vision loss, particularly when scam warning signs commonly rely on visual cues. This workshop will explore practical ways to recognize scams, protect your personal information, and help you feel more confident navigating digital spaces.

Join us for an online workshop focused on recognizing scams and protecting yourself online, with tips tailored to individuals living with vision loss.

  • When: October 14th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
  • Where: Zoom

Together, we’ll discuss:

  • Common online scams and how to recognize them
  • Warning signs that may be easy to miss
  • Practical strategies for protecting your personal information at home and at work

Ready to get moving and take on a new challenge? BALANCE's Boxing: The Knockout Collective is back this fall! This six-week program gives Blind and low-vision adults the chance to train in a state-of-the-art, centrally located and inclusive space under the guidance of Savoy Howe from Toronto Newsgirls Boxing Club.

Program Details

  • Date: Fridays, October 9- November 13, 2026
  • Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  •  Location: United Boxing Club – 1034 Bloor St. W. (Steps from Dufferin Station)

You’ll build solid boxing fundamentals — footwork, punch combinations, offense, and defense — while improving strength, coordination, fitness, and confidence. Beyond technique, the program helps you step into your own unique boxing style in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.

"Boxing makes me feel calmer and more confident. It’s the BEST anti-depressant, and I always leave class with a huge smile on my face."

What to Bring: Comfortable workout clothes, clean indoor shoes, water, and your fighter spirit.
