January 16, 2026

Does the thought of winter send you diving under the covers? You’re not alone!

For many people living with partial sight or blindness, the colder months can feel extra challenging. That’s why this workshop is here to empower you with practical, uplifting strategies to keep both your mind and body feeling their best—whether you’re hibernating indoors or bravely embracing the outdoors.

This workshop is co-facilitated by MSW Lisa Derencinovic, bringing mental health expertise, and Rehabilitation Student Tony Tran, offering insights on physical wellness and adaptive strategies for vision challenges.

In this workshop, you’ll discover:

  • How to prevent boredom and isolation
  • Fun and accessible indoor exercise ideas
  • Smart fall-prevention strategies
  • Simple ways to boost your vitamin D
  • Signs of seasonal depression and how to respond
  • Tips for managing anxiety and adjusting expectations
  • Techniques for practicing self-compassion all season long

By the end, we hope you’ll leave feeling empowered, prepared, and ready not just to survive the winter, but to thrive in it.
