Calling Passionate People to Serve on the BALANCE for Blind Adults Board of Directors!

BALANCE for Blind Adults is a non-profit organization committed to generating opportunities for those living with vision loss through innovative, inclusive, community-oriented programming and partnerships in the city of Toronto. We provide one-to-one and group training in assistive technology, adaptive daily living skills, orientation and mobility and wellness and we assist people to access needed community resources and activities. We invite people who live or work southern Ontario to fill vacant positions on the volunteer Board of Directors. While we value all types of professional expertise and personal/lived experience, we are currently also searching for the following specific types of experience:

  • Accounting and Finance (CPA designation ideal)
  • Legal (including, corporate governance, human rights, mental health, privacy)
  • Communications and/or public relations
  • Human resources
  • Fundraising

What’s involved

Candidates will be expected to commit to bi-monthly Board meetings (usually Monday evenings), and be willing to take part in Board committee tasks and meetings outside of the regularly scheduled board meetings. Board meetings can either be attended in-person or via teleconference.
