1:30 pm: Sharing Space Support Group.

BALANCE is pleased to announce that Sharing Space Support Group is moving to a year-round format with groups running every Tuesday, starting Tuesday January 12th, from 1:30pm-3:30pm.

The BALANCE Sharing Space Support Group is year-round professionally facilitated group counselling for adults who are blind or living with sight loss. From navigating during the pandemic to navigating ableism at any time, the groups address life’s challenges specifically for blind people, whether big or small, in a safe and supportive group experience (currently offered virtually through Zoom). Our Sharing Space Support Groups are facilitated by people with lived experience and a Social Work background.

This is open only to BALANCE clients. You need a service agreement in place in order to participate. If you don't have one, please call our office at 416-236-1796 extension 0 or email info@balancefba.org to get more information.

2:30 pm: UP Skills workshops.

BALANCE is proud to partner with ABC Life Literacy to offer a workshop series on Wednesdays, starting October 7th, from 2:30pm-4:00pm. The series is comprised of 9 sessions featuring all the soft skills necessary for those looking to set new personal goals or move into new careers. These sessions will explore: time management, stress management, teamwork, presentation, confidence, accountability, adaptability, motivation and attitude.

BALANCE will be hosting weekly workshops through Zoom, with each week covering one of the nine topics mentioned. You may either sign up for the series or only for the classes that are of interest to you. 4:30 pm: Mid‑Week Movements and Meditation with Frances Wong.

Stop by for a mid-week check in and to reset yourself for the rest of the week with some light stretches and deep breathing. A certified yoga instructor, Frances Wong will guide you through some gentle movements to wake the body up and then move into some breath work to soothe the nervous system. The sessions are informal and intended to be short and sweet with time briefly at the beginning to check in and see how people are feeling. All you need is a chair without armrests to sit in and clothing that allows for easy movement. These sessions are beginner friendly and no experience is necessary.

Please note the new date and time. Mid-Week Movements and Meditation starts on September 9. Sessions runs on Wednesdays at 4:30PM and are 20 minutes long, via Zoom. Pre-register by emailing us at info@balancefba.org
